First layers of ground dirt is applied on the two mine I use sifted backyard dirt mixed with fine sifted sand. It is applied in random patterns beside and over the existing track ballast. I also added a little green fine turf to simulate first weeds between the runaround tracks.

Rockpainting
I continued the work on the mainline section below the mine run with some rock painting. First pass is a to highlight some spots with a raw sienna and ocher to mimic some color variations caused by nature. In the second pass I applied a dark umber wash to some deeper spots and rock seams...
The next stage …
Work continued on the Coal Branch with the construction of the bridge structure that crosses the branchline after Bend Jct. As the bridge needs to span a rather odd cut of 17 cm in length no commercial kit would fit — at least I know of. So I decided to build the bridge from scratch....

Work in progress
I am currently working on the completion of my Kato NW2 for my own Cleveland & Eastern RR. Body paint and some weathering using powdered pastels finished.

Within the week I spent some hours gluing down some foam board and shaping the rough landscape. Finally I filled the larger gaps with lightweight putty. Here are some “proof of work”...
Back in action
Last time I did some work on the Cleveland & Eastern dates back to late 2017 as I prepared the Elizabeth Oaks section for our local bi-anual train show. 1 and a half years …. maybe a bit longer … later the Cleveland & Eastern is still here. I freed some hours last sunday and...

I have put up a little gallery with flicks from the Cleveland&Eastern convention setup.
